Baby Room

From tiny seeds, grow mighty trees

Choosing the right nursery is a very personal decision. We pride ourselves on our warm welcome to families and our enabling environments. Our staff are privileged to be an integral part of your children’s early years and love helping them achieve their first milestones.
Baby Room
Our Baby Room at Wren caters for children from 6 weeks to 2 years.

Our large open plan room can accommodate for 24 children, with it's own garden area, half sheltered for all weather use. It has a separate nappy changing/potty area and milk kitchen.

Environment

We have created our environment to consist of tailored areas; construction, cosy book corner, messy play and sensory, role play with further soft play and small world for easy access, complimented with additional resources, toys and activities that meet the needs of all children based on our bespoke curriculum.

Smaller babies can benefit from time spent in their own sectioned area of the room. with Black and white resources/pictures, babies can grow their focus and attention, develop their optic nerves and teach their eye muscles to coordinate with their brains. There is also opportunity for tummy time and smaller group work.

We are flexible with children’s routines and work around each child’s individual needs.
Baby room curriculum
Our bespoke curriculum recognises that children’s learning and development starts from birth and for children to thrive and progress, they need to first build the foundations of their development. Therefore, the curriculum begins with the three prime areas:

  - communication and language,

  - physical development and

  - personal, social, and emotional development.

Whilst establishing the foundations, we begin to incorporate the other four areas of development.

We set children three end goals to aim for before they transition to the Toddler Room, these are: walk, talk and be curious and social.

We want children in the baby room to build confidence and independence ready for moving to the next room.

Sleeping

We offer outdoor sleeping in pushchairs and see many benefits of this:

  - Cold air can help babies sleep better, deeper, and longer

  - Children sleeping outdoors may have fewer colds due to the decreasing exposure to germs in enclosed spaces

  - Children who sleep outdoors can benefit from nature's calming effect

  - Research shows that outdoor sleeping provides a significant improvement in children's cognitive attentiveness, alertness, and awareness.

We also offer cot sleeping and as children reach 18 months, we promote sleeping on sleep mats on the floor which is carried onto Toddler Room.
Baby Room Team

The ratio in our Baby Room is 1 member of staff to 3 children, our wonderful staff team have specific training in working with under 2’s to be engaged and responsive to the individual needs of all children.

Baby Garden

A safe play space for your little one to explore and learn in all weather.

With a sheltered patio area and large ajoining gated grass lawn, children have access to ride on and push along toys, climbing frames and opportunities for sensory play.

'A comprehensive settling in process means even the newest children feel safe and secure.'

Following our Ofsted inspection in January 2023, we are really pleased to announce we have received an overall Good rating at Wren Day Nursery
